Job training programs in Canada
The Canadian government and other partners have different job training programs that are aimed at helping people who are looking for employment to become skilled in looking for the best jobs. These programs are open for people who have never been employed and those who are looking for second employment.
Job training programs in Canada
- Literacy and essential skills program: As the name suggests, this kind of program aims at equipping job seekers with the essential skills that makes them eligible for employment opportunities. They are trained on basic computer programs, how to read and write, and simple office communication skills. this program is beneficial to people who did not complete formal education but they want to get into the job market.
- Training for indigenous people: The Canadian government has training initiatives for indigenous people. They have several units including the Canadian Forces Aboriginal program, First Nations and Inuit youth programs, summer programs among others. They are open to indigenous people of Canada across different ages.
- Youth and students job training program: This program is aimed at young people who want to hone skills that are needed to find work. Under this program, youths are taught how to write their resumes, get different skills such as learning a second language, and being taught other necessary skills such as being an apprentice. They are also told when there are internship and volunteer opportunities that they can benefit from. It aims at promoting excellence at work, making workers and potential workers be proud of the job they do, and giving certificates that show the standards that the people who have been trained have.
- Veterans seeking employment program: People who once served in the army and are looking for a different job can benefit from this program. They are taught how to transition from military life, and there are linked with different job positions that are open.
